I'm not an expert on Russia or currency trading, but so far our sanctions are hurting our people - in country's were voting and media still matter somewhat. Even if they are hurting average Russians, their votes and media don't matter nearly as much to Putin as ours do in the west.
The longer this drags on, particularly regarding gas in western Europe, the more the balance tips to Russia.
Boris Johnson just resigned yesterday. Yes, he was a scandal-ridden clown, but also the most hawkish European leader against Russia. Putin did not resign. I'd bet dollars to donuts that 2-3 more western European governments will either change tack or fall like BoJo before Putin starts to feel internal pressure to change his plans in Ukraine.
