You're half right, Martin. Long term this is good for both the planet and for those of us in the EU.

Short term you're underestimating the pain, and overestimating the sanctions. Russia is not hurting, the EU is.

I have no crystal ball, but I think the 70,000 that demonstrated in Prague last weekend against the sanctions and saying Czechia should be neutral in the war is just the start. It hasn't started to really get cold here yet in Central Europe.

Europe is still buying Russian oil and gas, just at a huge markup. People are not going to freeze so that NATO can bleed Russia.
