Your second statement is demonstrable untrue on some points, true on others, and also applies to "everyone else." That was not the point.

The point is that making statements like, "NATO is defensive only and no threat to Russia" does not negate Russia saying, "We'll go to war before we allow Ukraine to join NATO." Just because we don't agree, Russia still gets their opinion.

It would be far more beneficial to understand why Russia feels that way and work towards a solution that deescalates tensions rather than raises them for me not justifiable.
