Your first paragraph is counterfactual and non-disprovable, so I'm not going to address it except to say that I used to think Bill Clinton was better than Bush I or Dole, but 20 years on, the things Bill got done, NAFTA, the crime bills, 1996 telecommunications act, welfare reform, PNTR with China, and the repeal of Glass-Steagall were all fucking horrible, and things the Dems did and would have fought the Republicans on. Bush I was NOT able to get NAFTA through.

That sucking sound Ross Perot so adeptly described did happen under and thanks to Clinton.

Maybe Gore would have just done more of the same AND the Iraq War. We'll never know.
