You spend a lot of time talking past my points and knocking down straw men. I never said that 100% was a requirement for autonomous cars. I even wrote an extra comment related to windshield wipers. My points were and remain:

  • IMO as a semi-expert in the field, the overall complexity of driving in sub-optimal conditions is being massively underestimated
  • The question of liability needs to be addressed now during development. Currently there are no legal standards for autonomous driving liability AFAIK, which makes for an unbelievably dangerous future. Human safety will take a backseat (pun intended) to corporate profits if there are no legal protections are in place. This happens all the time in all industries. Autonomous cars will be no different.

Good luck with those straw men!
