You are factually incorrect. There are more Zionists living outside Israel than inside (one sits in the Oval Office of the White House). Orthodox Jews inside Israel are also NOT Zionists.

Palestinians live in Israeli occupied territory, as defined by the UN and international law. After decades of ethnic cleansing, it is no surprise that Hamas (founded in 1987 IIRC) started armed and organized resistance against their occupiers.

I'm no fan of Hamas, but since Israel has never provided a way for a peaceful opposition, violent opposition was inevitable.
