You and everyone else who doesn't have a thousand dollars (let alone $5k) to buy a product virtually noone "needs." Walking, biking, normal scooters were all better solutions for 99.999% of the population in 2001. Now there are even more alternatives.

Segways were the Teslas of their day, only worse. People actually need cars.
