Yes, this is a horrible war. Yes, it should have been avoided. I'm not Russian so I can't know how it feels to watch ethnic Russians being shelled for eight years and Europe was not coming to THEIR aid.
To my mind that doesn't justify an invasion, but I'm not a military or UN lawyer.
I know that Zelenskyy was told by the US that UKR would not get in to NATO. There is a recording of Zelenskyy describing the conversation. Zelenskyy still went on in public talking about joining NATO. He went to Munich and talked about getting nuclear weapons. He talked about eliminating ethnic Russians from the Donbas (also recorded).
There are many, many recordings of UKR war crimes. I'm sure there are Russian war crimes as well, but the biggest stories: Maternity Hospital, Theater in Mariupol, Bucha, Train Stating bombing, all have gaping plot holes that make it look as likely or more that the actions were staged or false flags by UKR forces. For just one example: Which government uses Tocha-U rockets? (Hint: It's not Russia). What kind of rocket landed at the Kramatorsk train station again?
Yes, the invasion is horrible and the Russians should answer for this. But this has been coming since the late 90s, and every independent Russian expert - including the US ambassador to Russia in 2008 - has been saying this war would happend if the US did not stop provoking Russia.
The US is doing NOTHING to push for negotiations. Only more war. Ukraine is being used as cannon fodder to feed the US MIC. Now we in Europe are supposed to buy super expensive LNG from the US rather than from Russia, making us poorer and more dependent on the US. Should we buy our oil from the democratic country of Saudi Arabia instead of "bad ol' Russia" too?
It is horrible how Ukraine is being used. I don't want the EU to be used even more than it is now.
How come Zelenskyy doesn't go around the world asking for food, medicine and housing for his people? He ONLY asks for weapons.
I was born in the morning, but it wasn't this morning.
