Years ago I knew a young boy who was being psychologically abused by his mother. He was talking to Child Protective Services. His father was trying to get custody, but it was a very slow process because very few believed the boy was really suffering. The boy said, "Sometimes I wish she would hit me. Then they would see how much it hurts me and do something."
