Wikipedia has a very US MIC bias. So if numbers look to support the Russian point of view, then the truth is probably more in Russia's favor.
You're certainly correct that there were not 14,000 civilians killed. To discount the entire comment based on that error is more than a little disengenuous.
According to the OSCE (Vienna-based i.e. not pro-Russia), between 2018-2022 (the don't have data for previous years), 80% of the deaths were on the Separtist side, i.e. most all the killing was Ukrainian governmnt forces shelling and killing in defiance of the Minsk II peace accord that Ukraine signed.
