Which is why, horrible as Trump is, I’m still happy he beat Hillary Clinton. Trump has been horribly inept at everything in his life (except self-marketing and choosing his parents) and that includes the presidency. He commits nearly all the same horrible acts of racism, xenophobia, sexism, bullying, extortion, corruption, imperialism m, sucking up to dictators, etc. that every US president has done (particularly since WWII) but he does it obviously and with many of the “wrong” dictators.

It is why as bad as Trump’s call for “maybe” calling out the troops on his own citizens, I still would rather Trump win over Biden. I’ll vote for a candidate that I want to win (e.g. Ventura) without much hope they will win. Because if Biden wins, the next “Trump” will be someone like Cotton. All the same fascism of Trump, but “a more polished, better spoken, and intelligent version.”

Major concerts have had crowd control that handles hundreds to tens of thousands of people without violent incidents around the world for decades. The major exception I know of is when the Rolling Stones hired the Hell’s Angels gang for security. We now have police with immunity and anonymity, dressed and armed like soldiers for security. See the problem? Think it will get better with actual soldiers doing security? Yeah, me neither.

There are limits to our rights. We have agreed the 2nd amendment doesn’t allow people to own a tank or a bazooka. We have agreed the 1st amendment doesn’t allow calling for violence. Tom Cotton is, IMHO, calling for state violence against citizens with tanks and bazookas. Soldiers are not trained for crowd control. They are trained to kill and subdue enemy combatants. If Cotton gets his wish, this will not end well.
