Sean Connery as James bond was a childhood hero of mine. When I read about his views on hitting women I was pretty crushed, and it left a psychological bruise that I clearly haven't gotten over.

I did some research and his original quote seems not 100% bad in hind sight, but his statements to Barbara Walters years later were pretty problematic. I'm of the opinion that there are only 1-2 situations where you should ever swing at the other person first, and in the case of a woman (I'm a man) there is (IMO again) never a reason to swing first.
