Sarcasm aside, GDP was invented in the US and is very well attuned to measuring value in a war-based economy like the US. GDP is NOT good at measuring a peace-based economy. Through the sanctions on Russia we've also seen that gross GDP is a bad measure of an economies resilience. Most specifically, producing goods and materials makes your econmy very resilient.
