Very interesting story! There is so much mystery in our own past.
It jogged a memory of a series of books I read about 40 years ago. It took me some days to find half of the author's name in my head which helped me locate the books on my shelves. The series is "The Saga of the Pliocene Exile" by Julian May (RIP).
The Zanclean Mega Flood plays a large role in the series. I won't post any spoilers. I enjoyed the stories so much that I've saved the books through all these decades and many moves (including transatlantic). I'm planning to reread them in retirement. Highly recommend giving them a read.
