Very interesting piece. I know almost nothing about DoorDash except the name and what it does.
Here in Austria DoorDash would already be gone. If you can't turn a profit in 7 years, the Austrian Finanzamt (like the US IRS) declares that your business is actually a hobby. You can still run the business, but you can't deduct business expenses on your taxes, because it looks like you don't have a viable business.
This obviously avoids the sitaution in the US where companies can pay huge sums to founders while never actually making any profit. In Austria there is not a "minimum profit" that you have to make to stay in business, but if you never make any profit then you are just scamming your fellow citizens by writing off "business expenses" that are actually "personal expenses."
