Very interesting, but I disagree about culpability. I'll add Nixon as guy who did the first planning, but the breaking of unions and the massive drop in taxes for the wealthy was all Gipper.

That huge amount of extra cash - along with the gains with SCOTUS thanks to Nixon - allowed the ultra wealthy to again buy up politicians. They got a 2 for 1 in the Clintons that has been paying dividends ever since.
