Very interesting. I've been living in Europe for the last 25+ years after living in the US for 25+ years. I'm fortunate enough to have parents with enough money to afford state universities in the 80s, so I had no student debt. Here in Central Europe, noone has student debt.
I comment because one of the major features of oligarch-centered countries like the US and UK are that they constantly have Thatcher characters who both demand, "Stop trying to imagine an alternative" as well as repeating ad nausea that countries that are not completely predatory capitalist are "failing."
I've been hearing for 40+ years that Europe is collapsing under the weight of its welfare state. Unsurprisingly, Europe continues to fail to collapse.
