Unforgiven is also one of my favorite movies. I have enjoyed Clint Eastwood movies, particularly the westerns, since I was a kid. Unforgiven was Eastwood's "anti-western" where so many of the cliches and tropes of his earlier films are turned on their heads. I won't post spoilers.

For me, the cardinal message of the film comes when the old gunslinger Bill Munny (Eastwood) is talking to "the Schofield kid" (Jaimz Woolvett). The kid is trying to come to grips with killing the cowboys. The kid tries to justify it by saying, "I guess they had it coming" and Munny answers, "We all have it coming, kid."

Putin is a war criminal, but he is far from alone.

15,000 people have been killed in the Donbas since 2014. 80%+ on the ethnic Russian side (source: UN). The Ukrainian government forces were doing the vast majority of that shelling. Zelenskyy, president since 2019, did not stop the shelling of civilians in the Donbas. What does that make Zelenskyy? Where was our outrage since 2014 about all those Ukrainians being killed?

Some Ukrainians stopped getting bombed when the Russians invaded.

They all have it coming, kid.
