Two things can be true at once. I don't support Hamas' actions against civilians, and I don't support Israel's actions in Gaza. Both of those positions are consistent with international law.

Israel's response in Gaza to Hamas' attack is a war crime from start to finish. Full stop. Gaza is occupied territory. Israel's response is at least ethnic cleansing and at worst genocide. It is 20-50 times worse that what Hamas did. That fact does affect the judgement of Israel's action.
