This is similar to the situation with Stalin when he suffered what would end up being a fatal stroke. Stalin was alone in his quarters and didn't come out as expected the next day after retiring as normal. His attendants were terrified to disturb his as it was against his express wishes.
As with Hitler, going against Stalin's express wishes could have fatal repercussions.
In Stalin's case, earlier medical help might well have saved him. He was alone in his quarters for 3 days (IIRC) before someone ventured in and found him stricken.
