Russia's invasion of Ukraine follows 25+ years of NATO expansion to surround Russia with a hostile military alliance. In the weeks leading up to February 2022 the Ukrainian government had massively increased the bombing of separatists in the Donbas and had massed 60,000 troops on the border to the Donbas. US pundits act like the conflict started in Feb 2022.
