This is a pretty good analysis. A couple of points.

I think Yang’s whole Freedom Dividend idea is a stalking horse to get VAT implemented and privatize current social support programs (welfare). No, the numbers won’t add up. So what will be the result? Reduce the payout and increase the VAT to close the gap. Meaning more regresive taxes and lower benefits.

Taxing capital gains like regular income is not “double taxation.” I own stocks. If those stocks go up in value, I have a “capital gain.” The income is taxed at 15% if I sell (currently), not like regular income. That’s it.

VAT is not paid by businesses. I run an international business in the EU for 25 years, so I know VAT very well. Businesses don’t pay VAT at all.
