This is a horrible analogy as bad as the oft used comparison between a household budget and a nation with a sovereign currency.

This analogy is doubly bad because of the time frame. The UK joined the EU in 1973. 47 years in the EU, but you've declared that Brexit was a mistake after about a year. That would be like me starting a change in my eating habit on Monday because I want to get a bit leaner. On Tuesday I step on the scale and my fat percentage is a bit higher than Monday, so I conclude the entire change was a shit idea.

So many other fine comments have noted that you kind of glossed over that teeny-tiny fact of a global pandemic that started just as Britain left the EU.

It may be that Britain leaving the EU was a bad idea. It may be it is the best thing to happen to Britain since the NHS. It is too early to tell. This is bad analysis.
