This has been in an open tab to be read for nearly 2 months. I wanted to see if this was the advice you would give, and to disagree with you if you didn't. Great advice!

I remember in college I was obsessing over this girl until a buddy of mine said (I paraphrase because this was decades ago), "You can do so much better. Find someone who wants to be with you, too." Spell broken, I moved on.

She clearly wasn't into me and I'm guessing she was happy when I stopped talking to her. I moved off-campus after that year and I can't remember ever even seeing her again.
