There are a couple of very important points left out of the analysis here. Yes, you need to be able to zoom out. But you also have to be able to zoom back in at the right time AND to the right place. i.e. have a good idea from the big picture and then have the focus and know how to get from A to B.

If I had a dollar for every "big picture" guru I've met over the last 30+ years that couldn't connect the dots and/or couldn't even see the damn dots I'd be as wealthy as Jobs was.
