The threat was definitely not defeated at the ballot box. Trump was symptom, not the cause. As Biden continues to not deliver on his promises to help people, the odds that a proto-fascist who is not a complete moron and incompetent will win election.

The 10-15 percent at the top in the US - the so-called "professional managerial class" (of which I'm a member) will do fine under Trump or Biden. "We can live happily in the US without loving the [other party]." It is the desperate 80-85% of the country that will continue to elect ever more right-wing leaders until we change the system fundamentally.
