The point is that Israel cannot defend itself against Iran's 2nd or 3rd string offense (old drones and missiles), and - very importantly - the US, UK and France (mostly the US) was doing a LOT of the shooting down. Israel cannot stand on its own.
I've read a couple of places, but I still take it with a grain of salt, that the whole point of most all the drones and missiles from Iran was sent up to 7 hypersonic missiles. Numbers vary, as well as the number that got through: up to 5 of 7.
I'm guessing Iran got this missile technology from Russia, who has very good hypersonic missile technology.
Noone has decent air defense against hypersonic missiles. The US doesn't even have hypersonic missiles.
The balance of power has shifted from the West to the East. Iran's pinpoint attacks on Israel just made this clear.
