The objective in Afghanistan was not to win militarily. The objective was to spend huge amounts on money. 50%+ of the money spent on the "war" in Afghanistan went directly into the pockets of US military contractors. They "won."

It is not a coincidence that in the 20 years we were in Afghanistan the counties around Washington DC became the wealthiest in the nation.
