The NYTimes is actually claiming that Reade is part of a conspiracy with her brother, a close friend of Reade’s, and Reade’s dead mother. The two still alive corroborate Reade’s claim to have discussed the alleged rape with them soon afterwards (~1993). Reade has also recently filed a police report regarding the alleged rape. Reade also claims to have filed a claim about harassment (separate from the rape allegation) with some Senate oversight group around 1993.

That all three people and potentially more have been Russian agents possibly as far back as the early 1990s is a pretty far out conspiracy theory from the NYTimes. They might want to contract Jonathan Chait to investigate this.
