The metaverse is a solution to a problem we don't have. It is far and away not good enough to be a "holodeck" solution that replaces in-place meetings. That means it is just a MUCH more expensive and intrusive version of MS teams, Zoom or Skype.

If Meta ever delivers on that breakthrough technology, they'll reap the rewards. Until then, Meta will continue to be a money suck for Zuck.
