The EU was created to stop European nations from going to war with each other.

You know who won't buy Russian oil? Countries invaded by Russia. The best way to bring peace to Europe would be to integrate Russia into the EU. That was going pretty well for the last 20 years.

But the US doesn't want that. We want the EU to buy our more expensive LNG. So instead of funding Russia to defeat Ukraine, we here in Europe will fund the US to defeat Ukraine, just slower. Slower of course means more death and destruction for the Ukrainians, but just like the Syrians and the Afghans before them, the US is willing to sacrifice the lives of other people's nations to increase the profits of our weapons manufacturers.

I'm not sure where you get your information that we're all "terrified of the criminal syndicate in control of its precious hydrocarbons." Did you notice that Saudi Arabia just beheaded 81 people on a single day?
