The correct answer is, "it depends." In general, plant-based meat substitutes are - maybe - healthier than meat. Definitely better regarding cholesterol (they have none), but they are usually full of fat and highly refined.

I say "maybe" because all the new ones like "beyond meat" and "impossible burger" have only been on the market a few years, and we don't know yet what the long term health effects of a diet full of them will be.

I've seen and read that the longer one is on a plant-based diet, the less one eats of "meat substitutes."
