That's a damn good standard! Johnson's record will always have that giant asterisk next to his name. Yes, he did great things domestically in the mid-60s, but he could have walked away from Vietnam and chose instead to send us on a path to 50k Americans dead and no idea how many Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia deaths before he left in 68.

If Johnson had walked away from Vietnam in 63-64 and then did voting rights in 65, he probably could have walked to reelection in 68 instead of not even running. Then there would have been no Nixon and no Henry fucking Kissinger in the white house.
