That right there is exactly why Russia was provoked to war with Ukraine. To stop that possibility. One huge difference between Finland and Ukraine (in that context) is that Russia has been attacked through Ukraine by the West multiple times.

In WWII the Nazis came through Ukraine and by the end of the war, 1 in 7 Russians was dead, and an area roughly equivalent in the US from the East Coast to the Mississippi was leveled.

That is why when I hear the bleating sheep repeat "Russia's unprovoked Invasion" I use a line virtually the same as your quoted above.
