That is some great nuance and systemic issues, but I'm not "too quick" to judge Smith. Under no circumstance does something someone says justify physically assaulting them. None. Zero.

We have the first amendment and laws against assault. The fact that Will Smith was not taken by security immediately after the assault and arrested is (IMO) the biggest societal issue here.

Does anyone now wonder how Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby were able to assault women for decades? Big celebrities with lots of money and power have different rules. Everyone knows it. This is just taking it to the next level. Public phyiscal assault is OK if you're rich and famous enough.

This is a horrible precedent and will lead to more violence.
