That is NOT what he said. He said Americans today have less freedom to listen to news from the other side than Soviet citizens did in the 1970s.

I disagree with Chomsky on some things, but the evidence is on his side. Chomsky pointed out that in the USSR in the 70s, "they could access the BBC, voice of America, German television if they wanted to find out the news."

You are fighting a strawman here, not Chomsky.
