That is exactly the problem that Israel has. 100 years ago it was possible to sell the lie of "a land without a people for a people without a land." Today it is possible for laypeople to reseach the situation and see that Palestine was not a "land without a people" anymore than the US, or Canada, or Australia were when colonialists arrived.
