That is complete bullshit. People very close to me have been in the same situation as Nina. What is Nina to do, keep Evangeline's lie for ever? Carrying someone else's lies eventually makes them your lies.

What happens when the marriage continues to degrade and another two years later Jayden goes to Nina and says, "I don't know what's going on with Evangeline. You're her best friend. Do you think she could be cheating on me?" Nina is now the liar? Nina comes clean and Jayden says, "You've known this for two years and never said anything to me?"

I have several ex-friends because I'm not into taking "guys weekends" where it is understood that "whatever happens on the road stays on the road." I'm not into "mutual assured destruction" relationships with so-called "friends." That is the kind of friendship you would want for Nina.

Nina gave Evangaline the choice to come clean on her own. I would have either done the same (if I were friends with Jayden as well) or told her, "either you come clean to Jayden or you and I are done."
