If you are a woman living in a relatively big city and working, you're going to encounter 20+ men a day. In a big city it will be 100+, in a small town, probably fewer. Let's choose a completely random average of 27.3972 men encountered/day.
27.3972 x 365 = 10,000 men encountered/year for an average woman. How many bear encounters does the average woman have per year?
We have statistics for how many bear attacks, but I didn't find any source for average number of bear "encounters" - where I define "encounter" as "within 3 meters (10 feet)."
I would bet an entire Jellystone Park full of pic-a-nic baskets that on average, a woman "encounters" a bear less than once in her entire life, while "encountering" 500,000 men. Ergo, your comparison is completely skewed.
