I personally think the US made a huge mistake goading Russia into the invasion. Short term gain, long term loss. I'm not a huge fan of Obama, but he called this correctly pointing out that Ukraine has no significant value for the US, and that Russia will always have the escalatory advantage there.

The smart move was to not play, and now we're stuck. Great short term for the US MIC, but long term we're building the multipolar world we wanted to stop from re-forming.
