Thanks, but it wasn't like I tossed my TV out the window because I was mad as hell and not going to take it anymore. I got divorced and left almost everything with my ex.
I thought, "I'll just wait a couple of years and then giant screen displays will only be a few thousand Euros."

Last year we finally bought a big screen TV to replace the home cinema setup of projector and screen with surround sound that I'd built up since 2002.
I don't regret it. I missed all kinds of cultural touchstones like "The Sopranos" but I also did not see 1,000,000 hours of Viagra ads. I also am completely out of the habit of turning on the TV ever, which makes for quiet hotel rooms on my many business trips. Cable TV is s time suck.
Cinema is my focus as well, albeit orders of magnitude lower than yours, I'm sure. That 2 meter wide screen with 5.1 Surround through a Denon amplifier was really great for watching movies.
