TBH I think Trump's "plans" are just his ham-handed, low-IQ opening bids for renegotiating NAFTA and getting military access in the Arctic Circle. With tactics like those it is not hard to understand how he went bankrupt 6 times.
NAFTA was a bad deal for US and Mexican workers for sure, not sure about Canadians.
With the polar ice caps melting and the US having decided Russia must be our enemy again, wanting more military bases (a key US export!) in the north is understandable.
I give Trump credit for putting the ideas out there, but his current plans are IMO going to be as successful as Trump steaks, Trump airline, and Trump vodka.
