Super interesting. I grew up in the midwest of the US where "you guys" just refers to "the group present" independent of gender. When I started doing training and presentations in Europe decades ago to people who all spoke English as a second language and before English become so ubiquitous, I would early on in my presentations explain what I meant when I inevitably referred to "you guys."

Fun fact: A group of baboons is called a "congress." Coincidence? I think not!
