Solid-state battery production is the reason my wife and I are holding off on replacing our gasoline car with a PHEV. Our car runs great, and the thought of buying a new car only to have a major piece of the technology become semi-obsolete half-way into the life of the car is a big risk.

In addition to charging / range tech, one of the tradeoffs of a PHEV is the loss of storage due to battery size.

The depreciation of Li-ion PHEVs /EVs will be huge when solid-state battery tech comes on line.
