So I read to the end of the essay, and your "difference" is academic.

Unfortunately for humans, I believe the planet is going to solve our problem for us. Since we are too tribal and greedy to change how we live, Covid mutations and climate change will kill first 10s of millions, then hundreds of millions until a new equilibrium is found.

Very unfortuately for those humans still around when this process finishes, the new equilibrium may not support human life long term, and we'll go the way of the dinosaurs.

I beginning to believe the only way to get off the merry go round we're on is to convince those driving the wheel to stop.
