Saul (aka Canelo) Álvarez is a Mexican boxer. One of the best (many say "the" best) pound-for-pound boxers of the last 30 years.

"Canelo" means "little cinnamon." Álvarez grew up a pale red-headed Mexican in a family of dark-skinned and dark-haired Hispanics.

Álvarez was teased and bullied for being a smallish redhead. One day Canelo hit one of his bullies back and discovered he could hit really hard. Canelo has stated in interviews that he liked that feeling.

Álvarez is now worth an estimated $250 million. He's a very wise and shrewd businessman who parlayed his boxing winnings into a huge business enterprise.

...and it all started because Canelo was "beaten like a red-headed stepchild."
