...or...You could understand the simple truth that the average American is NOT doing well, and has been doing slowly worse since the days of Reagan.

Older people vote more than younger people. So people who were young in the 80s (raising my hand!) have watched the decades roll by while their parents did fine, but they just got by, and they see their kids are well and truly fucked.

For those of us at the top the US is still doing fine. But for the bottom 85% it sucks.

Bill Clinton was supposed to bring change after 25 years of Republican WH residents (Carter's 4 years the exception). But Clinton turned out to just be a Republican who said he, "feels your pain" while feeling up a lot of women. Life for the average American trended down, and for those at the bottom on welfare it got REALLY bad.

Bush was supposed to bring change after the disappointment of Clinton. No such luck. We got lax security leading to 9/11 and more attempts at privatization.

Obama was supposed to bring change but it turned out that the only change was that he was an outstanding orator with darker skin and virtually the same politics as Clinton and Bush. He saved Wall Street and hung Main Street high out to dry. After 8 years American black people did NOT see any improvement in their situation.

When it came time for Obama to hand the baton to Hillary (which he almost did physically during her campaign), enough of the public in the critical swing states said, "Enough. We'll roll the dice with this obvious con man who at least will acknowledge us when we say our lives suck."

Eight years later the US establishment STILL doesn't get it. Prosecuting Trump on (pun intended) trumped up charges just makes him that much more relatable to average Americans who have screwed over by the US system.

Trump definitely deserves to go to prison. Just not for the things he's being charged with right now. Not unless he is proceeded in prosecution with all the high-level Ds and Rs who committed the same or very similar crimes before he did. Looking again at Hillary, Obama, W, Bill, and even Biden as VP.
