One other billionaire who pays his taxes is Dieter Mateschitz, the 1/2 owner** of Red Bull. He founded the west's energy drink business and enjoyed and enjoys the #1 position.

Part of the reason Red Bull stays at #1 is that Mateschitz is super shrewd. No one "needs" an energy drink, so Mateschitz puts 1/2 of the company profits into marketing (ads) to drive demand and maintain that #1 position.

Mateschitz lives here in Austria in a beautiful lake area near Salzburg (Fuschl am See).

Mateschitz was told some years ago that he could move to Switzerland and save a fortune in taxes. His response (I paraphrase) was, "It is beautiful here and I can't spend the money I have now."

Possibly Michael Dell is also a billionaire who didn't get there by fucking over everyone. He was building PCs from his UT dorm room in 81 or 82 after learning about mail order business trading stamps as a teenager. Don't know if he dodged taxes or screwed his workers, but he was the right guy with the right skills at the right time in the right place.

** Mateschitz is worth 26 billion or so. But 1/2 of all Red Bull revenue goes to the Thai family that actually invented Red Bull, and that Mateschitz tasted on a business trip and then made a 50/50 deal with them to license Red Bull in the west. Again, very shrewd. Half a cake...
