Of course there are differences between prisoners in a concentration camp like Gaza and a prisoner of war camp. In my opinion there is not a "world of difference."

As long as Israel holds Gazans in a concentration camp, there is going to be some form of violent resistance like Hamas. There will also be some form of support for Hamas as long as the Israel government supports Hamas and allows funding of Hamas through third parties like Qatar ($1 billion so far).

Your "black and white" position of requiring complete surrender before anything can move forward only assure that there will never be peace. This is borne out already by facts on the ground. The West Bank is not and has never been governed by Hamas, and yet Israelis are killing and ethnically cleansing Palestinians on the West Bank for decades.
