No, it does not. I moves the liability for these variables from the driver (and a whole lot more), who can be sued and go to prison, to...we don't know yet. If it is a corporation where noone personally pays a price, then sloppy code that kills people will become just another cost of business.

The human brain is the most complex computing device in our human experience. Driving is a 4 dimensional activity. Designing a computer to beat a human at chess is many orders of magnitude easier than designing a self-driving car that can work in dim light with a sensor partially covered and intemittent snow on a road with old markings.

We should be spending our money building out public transportation. Trains, subways and buses transport huge numbers of people safely, with fewer emissions, lower traffic density and much cheaper than individual vehicles ever can or will.
